8 Spongy Tissue in Alphonso mangoes
- • Alphonso mangoes have genetic/physiological issue related to it, namely Spongy tissue
- • The mango looks perfectly fine from outside, but has developed a spongy tissue inside
- • Spongy tissue is the part of the fruits flesh which doesn't get ripen
- • It happens out of research has been done in identifying spongy tissue early, yet there is no definite solution of identifying it
- • We take as much as care as possible before importing the fruit but it is not always possible to stop this from happening.
- • Thus Alphonso is sold "AS IS" and no refund will be provided.
Examples of Spongy Tissue in Alphonso Mangoes:
Spongy Tissue Example 1:
Small portion of the fruit with Spongy tissue
The affected area appears as white/pale patches within the golden flesh
Spongy Tissue Example 2:
Large area of spongy tissue
Significant portion showing unripened, fibrous texture
Spongy Tissue Example 3:
Spongy tissue visible as streaks
Linear patterns of pale, unripened tissue
Note: Spongy tissue is a naturally occurring phenomenon in Alphonso mangoes. The mango may appear perfect from the outside, but the condition is only visible when cut open. The affected areas appear as white or pale yellow patches that have a fibrous, unripened texture compared to the golden, juicy flesh of the properly ripened portions.
